District 10 provides free transportation for students living 1.5 miles or more from school. Students living less than 1.5 miles are allowed to ride the bus to school for a fee. For students living in a Board approved designated hazardous area, no fee is assessed.

In order to make necessary arrangements with the transportation company, a one-week waiting period is required from the time a new student registers for service before that service will begin. The same applies when a drop-off and/or pick-up location change is requested. Returning students are expected to complete and submit the transportation registration form with enrollment paperwork. Late forms and change of pick-up and drop-off locations will be accepted, however, confirmation of bus service will not take place until two weeks after the start of the school year.

Questions regarding paid bus service fees should be directed to the Administrative Center at 630-773-1232. Bus invoices are mailed from the Administrative Center and payment in full is required prior to a paying rider receiving an assigned bus stop. Payments should be submitted to the Administrative Center, 200 North Maple Street, Itasca, Illinois 60143. Paying riders must sign up for bus service for the entire school year, at the beginning of the school term or they cannot be guaranteed a seat.

Pick-up and drop-off locations will be limited to the home or one designated location, i.e. home, babysitter, etc. provided that the designated location is within District #10 boundaries. Alternating days of the week and/or multiple locations for pick-up and drop-off will not be allowed. There will be no exceptions.

It is the parents’ responsibility to provide supervision for their children at the stops, if they believe it is necessary. Scheduling does not permit the bus to wait at the stop if there is no supervision.
