TOTAL COST – $26.98 million
Student & Teacher Safety -- $5.47 million
Safer environment for students and teachers including new secured entryways, updated camera and intercom systems, modern communications systems integrated with the village’s police and fire departments, and more secure doors at all three schools.
21st Century Learning -- $5.06 million
Renovated classrooms to modernize learning spaces for students, properly implement today’s curriculum, facilitate collaboration, and allow for more individual instruction.
Life Safety, Infrastructure, & Mechanicals -- $12.4 million (extra $1.4 million)
Safer and better-maintained schools with investments in capital projects including plumbing, windows, electrical, lighting, heating and air conditioning, ceilings, floors, pavement, and energy efficiency, which leads to long-term operational savings.
Maintaining Smaller Class Sizes -- $4.05 million
Additional learning areas at Benson and Franzen for students in a secure outdoor environment, facilitating additional learning and providing space to maintain distances that may be required during health pandemics.
Additional classrooms through addition at Benson School protecting current class sizes and potentially reducing class sizes, more space for students to learn and maintain distances that may be required during health pandemics, and additional space for special education to keep our students in their local schools.
