School Board
A Board of Education member serves the community without any remuneration. To be a member of the board, a person must be a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age, a resident of the state and school district for at least one year immediately preceding the election, and must file a statement of economic interest with the county clerk. There is no limit to the number of terms a person may serve on the board. Officers are elected for two year terms by the Board of Education.
The Board of Education is composed of seven elected members who serve four year terms. The Consolidated Election Law provides that elections be held in April of odd numbered years with four members and three members elected respectively.
